Description:
We are working closely with a very specialised food services client who, due to internal promotion and growth, are searching for an additional Purchasing Officer to join their small team. The successful person will have responsibility for ensuring supply meets demand, that sourcing yields the best possible product quality and that the pricing paid is best possible. In addition, the position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Work towards ensuring the supplier database is current and relevant, including the introduction of new, and performance management of existing suppliers when appropriate.
• Develop and implement purchasing programs with sufficient lead time to manage the forward supply plan.
• Development new supply lines to ensure lift of existing customers
• Ensure attention to market developments and sourcing new and innovative products to promote to our customers
• Continual development of the company’s range to promote growth.
• Management of key suppliers including negotiation of agreements and monitoring of performance and service levels.
• Manage stock on hand to ensure balance between stock rotation, on hand value, out of stocks and bulk purchase discounts.
• Take inbound customer orders by phone & email when required
• Process customer orders to create tax invoices
• Provide support to other team members as required

Skills:
• Experience in Purchasing within the fresh food industry for 2 + years
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently or as a team
• Have analytical and problem solving abilities
• Ability to work in a fast moving, high-volume section of the business
• Intermediate Office 365 and ERP platform skills
