Building Surveyor - Local Government

Description: Osborne Richardson are searching for an experienced Building Surveyor to join our local council client on a 3 month contract. Commencing early April, this role will run through until mid June although it is likely to extend further from there in.

Located South West of Melbourne this council is located in a picturesque waterside location.

You will have proven experience in local government building surveying with knowledge of policies and practices. Strong communications skills will also be key to our success in this roles as you will be our on district liaising and working with the local community as well as your own key internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:-

• Accountable for providing direct support for other Building Surveyors, Inspectors and Technical/Administration staff within the team.
• Accountable for the level of professional advice, conduct, and analysis in respect to building applications, Council’s consents and proposals, is subject to close supervision or to other guidelines.
• The position operates accordingly to the policies and procedures of the City, the business and marketing plans of the section, the budget of the team and any relevant legislation.
• Accountable for creating and capturing accurate and complete records of the business activities related to this position, in accordance with approved policy and procedures. This is applicable to both hardcopy and electronic information, including email.

About you:

1. A proficient theoretical and practical knowledge and ability to interpret development legislation and practices and associated legislation.
2. Knowledge of government policies and practices and awareness of current trends and issues.
3. A certificate issued by the Building Practitioners Board in respect to building surveying or suitable academic qualification that will allow an applicant to seek registration
4. Suitable academic qualification that will allow an applicant to seek registration from the Building Practitioners Board once sufficient experience has been obtained in plan checking and on site inspections.
