About the business
Located a short distance North West of Sydney's CBD this Council is seeking a Property Acquisition Officer on a initial 3-6 month contract that is likely to be extended for the right candidate. This is an exciting opportunity for candidate with proven experience within the Property and Real Estate industry, strong communication and negotiation skills as well as the ability to pick up new systems and processes at speed. Reporting directly into the Property Manager this is an key role within the department where your professional knowledge and past experience will be called upon.
About the role
To undertake the responsibilities associated with Council's statutory property acquisition programs.
To provide professional advice to the Property Manager.
Act in accordance with the NSW WHS Act 2011, WHS Regulation 2011 and the Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Management System to ensure a safe place of work.
Undertake negotiations in consultation with relevant stakeholders with respect to Council's acquisition programs, including landowners and their advisors.
Undertake negotiations in conjunction with the Senior Property Officer and the Property Manager.
Liaise with Council consultant valuers, surveyors and solicitors.
Ensure that acquisitions are undertaken in a timely manner to meet the requirements of other Council Sections and Directorates to provide for the efficient delivery of facilities and infrastructure.
Acquisition Objectives and Actions included in the Management Plan are completed within target dates.
Requirements of the Service Level Agreement in respect of S94 responsibilities are achieved.
Serve as member of Council's S94 Finance Committee to provide strategic advice regarding future acquisition timing and strategy.
Prepare reports to Council as required and all other documentation necessary to carry out duties.
Provide professional advice to the Property Services Coordinator and the Manager Property.
Skills and experience
Relevant qualifications in a property related field eg. Bachelor of Business in Land Economy, Conveyancing Advanced Diploma or equivalent.
Registered under the provisions of the Valuers Registration Act 2003 or licensed to practice under the provisions of the Conveyancers Licensing Act 2003.
Eligible for membership of appropriate professional organisation.
A minimum of 4 years experience in a similar position.
Demonstrated Real Estate industry experience.
Demonstrated experience in statutory acquisitions.
