Description: We are delighted to be working with this large food manufacturing business located in the Western suburbs of Sydney in the search for their next Logistics and Distribution Manager.

Our client has enjoyed significant growth over recent years with no signs of this abating and as a result the require a specialist Logistics Manager to lead and develop best practice management of the warehousing & distribution activities to ensure the successful transition of product from production to distribution, whilst at all times emphasising quality, workplace health and safety, food/hygiene safety and other required legislative compliance.

Our client employs over 300 staff and you will have overall responsibility for 2 direct and 8 indirect reports.

Roles and Responsibilities:-

Ensure an efficient and professional information flow from the Logistics & Warehouse function across the site and externally
Lead and participate in meetings and forums internally and externally in relation to Logistics & Warehousing, including conducting regular meetings to engage Logistics & Warehouse teams in cross functional activities
Lead communications between all Logistics & Warehouse teams, across all shift as well as maintaining clear and concise handover notes for overseeing Supervisors in carrying out the same
Develop strong relationships to facilitate effective communication with other areas of the business on relevant matters to initiate support and action to minimise product movement to distribution downtime and optimise efficiencies
Proactively escalate issues of risk and opportunity to the Operations Manager
Oversee the regular communication of compliance requirements to Logistics & Warehouse teams
Engage regularly in knowledge and skills sharing across the relevant shift team, including sharing Logistics & Warehousing information to guide daily activities and respond to issues as they arise
Assist in the workforce planning for the Logistics & Warehouse teams that is focused on both replacement and succession planning for the current and future business requirements
Collaborate with Sales and Marketing for daily coordination of loading orders, stock on hand reporting
Coach and guide Supervisors to plan for and meet daily manning requirements, including responding to planned and unplanned absences for team, collaborating with HR for manning support
Take a lead role in implementing process and workflow changes within Logistics & Warehouse teams to meet organisational objectives
Plan, direct and coordinate the daily activities of Supervisors with a strict adherence to safety
Be an integral part of tender processes and recommend new supply arrangements to the business

About you:-

Previous experience within Food Manufacturing, FMCG is essential
Strong leadership skills and experience of producing behaviour change
Experience of commissioning new technology and negotiating the best arrangements with external supplier
Proven experience in implementing a safe environment and culture and a desire to be the "best in class"
