Survey Technician-Local Government

Description: A local council in Brisbane is looking for a Survey Technician for a six month contract, with possibility of a further extension. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a local council if you have a surveying background.

The duties include:

• Assisting in the completion of engineering surveys in accordance with the survey, design and construction requirements.
• When required complete engineering survey projects including the supervision of field staff, or contractors.
• Assist the Senior/Engineering Surveyor to provide quality spatial services safely and to the appropriate accuracy for the survey purpose
• Complete survey office duties to maintain appropriate field and office records
• Proactively participate as a member of the SSU via open communication and the sharing of information and technical knowledge within the unit and with project stakeholders to provide continuous improvement of the unit's services.
• Maintain survey equipment such as tribrachs, levels, tripods, hand tools and any other survey related equipment. Checks and adjustments to tribrachs, levels and Instruments are to be recorded on a quarterly basis. Weekly check of survey vehicles to ensure availability of required consumables and equipment.
• Complete the labouring activities associated with field surveying.

Skills and Experience:

• Demonstrated achievement in using computers, the Microsoft software suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel and Explorer), Council corporate systems (or similar) and survey databases with the ability to develop basic skills in the use of AutoCAD and 12D.
• Experience in conducting the field component of various survey types utilising total stations, survey levels and GNSS survey instruments is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability and physical fitness to perform a range of strenuous manual tasks for prolonged periods of time as associated with the various survey types.

• Class C drivers licence
