Description:
Based at Melbourne, our client has been an integral part of Australia’s food industry for many decades. They are currently looking for a Maintenance Manager to manage key responsibilities in budgeting, planning, and executing both preventative and emergency maintenance activities, as well as overseeing the procurement and installation of various assets including plant machinery, equipment, buildings, and infrastructure essential for the operation of the Processing Plant.

In this position, you will:
• Meet budgets and KPIs set for the section.
• Provide operational direction to Maintenance supervisors/team leaders.
• Assist supervisors/team leaders in understanding section specific KPIs.
• Make timely decisions on distribution operations as requested by Maintenance staff and other Plant areas.
• Maintain staffing levels in maintenance according to approved levels, adjusting as per production forecasts.
• Ensure understanding and agreement on Key Performance Indicators and Maintenance Budgets
• Make prompt and correct decisions on maintenance operations as requested by other Plant areas.
• Operate processing plant and equipment safely at full capacity, maximising working life.
• Plan and manage daily/weekly/monthly production to meet customer requirements.
• Monitor labour utilisation, controlling costs, absenteeism, and turnover to achieve budgeted outcomes.
• Manage KPIs to ensure deliveries are in full and on time.
• Prepare and submit budgets for responsible departments.
• Emphasise and ensure quality standards are met, aiming for leadership in quality service.
• Drive continuous improvement within operations.
• Foster effective teamwork within areas.
• Conduct regular recorded risk assessments on tasks, equipment, and substances, implementing suitable controls prioritised by risk.
• Implement the company's Quality and GMP program through support, procedures, implementation, and training.
• Attend Hygiene and Food Safety Review meetings.
• Review Hygiene non-conformances, agree on corrective actions, and ensure timely and effective implementation.
• Aim for reductions in absenteeism, labour turnover, and customer complaints.

The ideal candidate will possess:
• Knowledge of food processing industry and fleet management.
• Detailed understanding of Baiada product range.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to make prompt and accurate decisions on the job and during production.
• Goal-oriented with the ability to achieve targets.
• Excellent planning skills, especially in logistics.
• Proficient in project management, particularly for immediate issues.
• Advanced problem-solving skills with a focus on long-term preventative actions.
