Description:
We are assisting a Local Council in western Sydney in their search for an Architectural Project Manager in a 10 month contract with a view to extend. The role is due to begin on the 5th May.
This person will work in a client side role which is very much design focused. You will manage concept design of masterplans, buildings and public domain space. Your excellent communication ability will see you establish strong relationships with external consultants to see the projects reach successful outcomes. Community engagement and communication is key as well as working with the operations department in the delivery of building works and the provision of technical and governance advice.
Specifically the person will:
Undertake needs analysis, prepare internal project briefs defining quality, scope, budget and program for each project;
Lead place specific masterplans for public places and buildings;
Preparation of consultant’s briefs, co-ordination of consultants and in-house staff and stakeholder and community engagement;
Project manage the concept design and development of key building and infrastructure projects identified by Council;
Prepare expression of interests, quotations and tenders;
Overview design quality during the construction phase;
Establish mechanisms for effective liaison with Council’s Operations Department for the delivery of capital works projects;
Develop, implement and monitor project plans, cost plans, work breakdown structures and Gantt charts for each project;
Serve as a member of assessment teams in relation to selection of consultants and tenders;
Lead project control group meetings throughout projects;
Execute and oversee financial management of projects during concept design; monitor reports, invoicing, revenue projections, etc.;
Drive continual improvement of project management processes through ongoing monitoring, evaluation and reporting;
Investigate and develop funding options for the Units projects;
Provide architectural and design advice to Council;
Keep up to date with industry trends and based on them make recommendations on design initiatives for Council;
Achieve a high level of customer service and community satisfaction;
Attend after-hours events, meetings as required.
To be successful in this role you will require:
Tertiary Qualifications in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering or other relevant discipline
Current valid drivers license
Strong post graduate experience in Project Management
Demonstrated experience in Project Managing the design of complex capital works/building projects to improve built environment
Experience managing budgets, project plans, cost plans, work breakdown structures and Gantt Charts for projects
Experience engaging and managing consultants, writing project briefs, project conception through site investigation, design development
Run a series of projects concurrently
Strong working knowledge of current urban design and construction trends and methods
Eligibility for registration with AIA, AILA, PIA or equivalent
