Product Development Manager - Food Manufacturing

Salary: Negotiable Location: Ref: SD/01202
Description: We are looking for a passionate and professional Product Development Manager to join a large food manufacturing company based in Melbourne's north. The purpose of this role is to assist in the development of new food products and improve existing products within the business. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and a complete and comprehensive understanding of the product development process.

In this role you will:-
• Provide process support and assist with the development of new and improved products
• Work in collaboration with other departments to support key business initiatives
• Maintain positive and professional relationships within the department plus across the business
• Assist in the development of the Product Development Plan and assess output requirements
• Executing shelf life tests
• Participate in product evaluation (sensory panel)
• Monitor daily product quality control and overseeing new product presentations
• Creating ingredient specifications to ensure safety and consistency of finished products
• Creating finished product specifications
• Assist in the validation of new equipment
• Provide administrative support to the Development Chef
• Project work as required and directed by manager

To be successful in this role, you will have:-
• Tertiary qualifications in Food Technology or a related discipline
• A quality and process improvement focus with a passion for food
• High attention to detail
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• The ability to build and sustain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Substantial food industry and management experience
• Outstanding people management and influencing skills
• Excellent communication skills
• An ability to build high performing teams
• An ability to excel within cross-functional teams
• A strong internal customer focus
• Excellent organisational and planning abilities
• The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
