Our client is seeking a talented and creative Senior Food Technologist for a full time role based on the Sunshine Coast. Based on the Sunshine Coast, the region boasts a combination of lifestyle choices, natural beauty and assets - temperate climate, fishing, bushwalking and clean beaches make it a perfect place to settle. There is plenty to do if you like the outdoors while having the convenience of a major metro area close to work.
This role will involve working in a small team with your own portfolio of project to work on. You will work on in house concepts and also work closely with retail customers on a wide range of work. You will have the support of the NPD Manager and a NPD Officer whilst working quite autonomously on new and existing products.
In this role you will:-
• Develop new products and improve existing recipes
• Follow stage gate process from concept to launch
• Deliver cost savings with ingredient substitutes or alternative suppliers, and deliver healthier products without affecting sensory results
• Oversee factory trial, validations and product launches to market
• Identify trends in the market and concepts
• Execute shelf life tests and ensure high quality of the product
• Liaise with suppliers
• Develop costings and assist with regulatory requirements
• Participate in product sensory evaluation
• Create ingredient specifications and bill of materials to ensure safety and consistency of finished products
To be successful in this role, you will have:-
• Qualifications in Food Science or Technology
• Demonstrable experience within a similar role
• Background in baked goods (highly desirable)
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• High attention to detail
