Description:
Osborne Richardson is delighted to be working with a great council in Melbourne to bring you a fantastic Assistant Fire Prevention Officer opportunity.

This contract will run until the end of January 2026. but could potentially extend beyond that. 

The officer will provide support to the Municipal Fire Prevention Officer in carrying out councils annual fire hazard inspections.

General duties and responsibilites in this role include:

  • Attending to allocated Fire Prevention Inspections on a daily basis that require inspection.
  • Utilising the Fire Inspection system ‘Crisisworks’ complete the assessment and submit to admin for processing whilst out in the field.
  • Assessing the vacant land by completing the Fire Inspection Program using an iPad and submitting the assessment to the EM Team.


You should be able to demonstrate the following key skills and knowledge:

  • An understanding of Emergency Management and Fire Prevention.
  • Demonstrated ability in using computer products.
  • High level of customer service skills.
  • Skills in managing time, setting priorities.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and gain cooperation from people with diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

We're looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Completed a Fire Prevention Officers Course and / similar related courses.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Fire Prevention Inspections.
  • Knowledge of Emergency Management and Fire Prevention and the administrative requirements to provide effective support in this field.
  • Demonstrated ability in using MS Office computer products, and the ability to access, interpret and maintain databases.
  • Current driver’s licence.
