Osborne Richardson are getting right in the festive spirit and deliver all manner of special roles to candidates across Queensland. On this occasion, we have a Santastic opportunity to join the team at Logan City Council as Privacy Advisor on a role until July 2026.
In this role, you will compliment the existing team in Council's Corporate Governance Branch. In doing so, your duties will focus in on sensitively and confidentially case managing and providing quality advice on all matters associated with information access legislation, privacy compliance, review and ethical matters. In doing so, your duties will focus in on sensitively and confidentially case managing and providing quality advice on all matters associated with information access legislation, privacy compliance, review and ethical matters. This will see you:
- Exercise delegated decision making power under the RTI Act, IP Act and Evidence Act.
- Case manage applications made under the RTI Act, IP Act, Evidence Act, Notices of Non Party Disclosure, Subpoenas and Summons, whilst meeting all statutory obligations.
- Case manage conflicts of interest and gift declarations, whilst meeting all statutory obligations.
- Case manage privacy complaints, under the direction of the Program Leader.
- Interpret and apply the legislation to the cases being managed, including knowledge and application of case law relating to the release of information.
- Prepare a variety of correspondence, including decision notices under the RTI and IP Acts and correspondence to the Office of the Information Commissioner arising from external reviews.
- Communicate with and provide general advice and assistance to Council officers and external stakeholders on information access legislation, privacy compliance, review and ethical matters.
- Well-developed knowledge and extensive practical experience in dealing with information access legislation, privacy compliance, review and ethical matters
- Demonstrated superior organisational, communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- The ability to case manage matters with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity and to the highest ethical standard
- Demonstrated experience in assessing Right to Information, Information Privacy and Evidence Act applications, including the ability to interpret and apply the legislation relevant to a request.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing), consult and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and up to date documentation, records and files in accordance with processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality in a sensitive and complex environment.
