Compliance Advisors and Specialists (Several Roles) - GIPA & Privacy

Osborne Richardson are proud to, once again, be called upon to partner with this key NSW State Government agency which leads on Insurance and Care.

We are seeking several new Officers for this team, including Compliance Advisors (band 9/10) and Compliance Specialists (Band 7/8). In these roles, you will join on initial 3 month contracts and be bestowed with a fantastic hourly rate in line with the banding outlined above. 

In the Compliance Advisor role you will provide support to the Head of Compliance, in addition to the Compliance Managers, to help ensure the various legal, regulatory and internal policy obligations are met through the implementation of the Compliance Management Policy and assisting in the development and implementation managed compliance processes, including compliance incident management and responding to information access requests.

In the Compliance Specialist roles, you will provide in-depth support to the Compliance Advisors through collection and review of information which has been requested under GIPA or the NSW Privacy Legislation.

Throughout your role you will have a multitude of key duties, which will include:
  • Undertaking research to identify the laws, regulations, external requirements and internal policies impacting the organisation.
  • Acting as an information source to the business to anticipate regulatory requirements and to support an accurate interpretation and application of new regulations.
  • Undertaking a thorough analysis to identify the organisation's obligations and develop an obligations register, which identifies the obligation owners, defines the obligation and describes its impact on icare.
  • Partnering with compliance obligation owners to support the business in meeting its obligations on a day to day basis.
  • Assisting with a compliance risk assessment of each of the organisation's obligations to determine the highest to lowest rated compliance risks.
  • Conducting monitoring, assurance and testing of the control environment and prepare reports of the results for the Compliance Managers and/or Head of Compliance.
  • Assisting with investigations of reportable breaches and incidents including assessment of impact of breach, root cause analysis and provide advice to the business on improvement opportunities.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of a enterprise-wide self-assessment and assurance system..

  1. A minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent experience for the Compliance Advisor roles. 5 years' experience for the Compliance Specialist roles.
  2. Experience in compliance and/or risk frameworks.
  3. Experience as compliance practitioner, ideally in the insurance (or care) sector.
  4. A range of experience in analysing and reporting on compliance management strategies.
  5. Deep knowledge and understanding of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA) and privacy and health legislation.
