Osborne Richardson has been exclusively appointed by Mackay Regional Council in their search for a Senior Accountant – Management Accountant to join their Finance team on a permanent basis.

As a Senior Accountant – Management Accountant at Mackay Regional Council, you will lead and elevate financial management practices, contributing to the strategic decision-making process. This role involves business partnering within numerous departments within council to develop best practice management accounting and financial management practices.
With Council's annual budget in excess of $400m and assets north of $3.7b, we are seeking experienced professionals with a background of success in dealing with organisations of a similar stature.
Perform financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting functions.
Prepare financial statements and reports in compliance with accounting standards.
Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
Assist in the management of financial risks and opportunities.
Provide financial advice and support to various departments and stakeholders.
Participate in audits and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Mentor and guide junior team members
Qualifications and Experience:
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce or Accounting
Desirable - Eligibility for membership to the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants or Chartered Accountants association.
Experience in and an understanding of Local Government accounting procedures, guidelines and Australian Auditing Standards.
Experienced in TechOne Software (Finance 1 / Ci Anywhere)
Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
Proficiency in financial software and tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a fast paced, high volume team.
Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
