Join our client, a successful Food Manufacturing company that has been a trusted name in the industry since the 80's, supplying high-quality baked products.
They are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Officer with experience in food manufacturing and supply chain management.

Work in a single-site operation in the inner-north suburbs of Brisbane, with a stable Monday–Friday schedule with an early start and early finish of 6am - 2pm each day.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for managing procurement and inventory, ensuring all raw materials, packaging, and consumables are available to support uninterrupted production. This role requires strong supplier management, logistics coordination, and SAP system knowledge to ensure cost-effective purchasing and efficient supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Source and purchase raw materials, ingredients, and indirect consumables for production.
Maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Ensure a two-supplier policy where possible to reduce risk and maintain supply security.
Regularly review supplier performance and pricing.
Utilise the SAP Business One MRP system to forecast and maintain stock levels.
Coordinate weekly and fortnightly procurement plans based on production needs.
Oversee export logistics, including container arrangements and compliance with export paperwork.
Conduct ad hoc stock takes and monitor stock variances, investigating and reporting discrepancies.
Maintain accurate Production Item Master and Bill of Materials (BOM) files in SAP.
Track production costs and work with the CFO to analyse monthly financial reports.
Review and validate Chep invoices, coordinating stock checks of Chep pallets.
Work closely with the Production Manager to support one-off purchasing needs for trial products.
Ensure all purchasing activities comply with Workplace Health and Safety policies and risk management procedures.
Continuously seek innovative solutions to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
Key selection Criteria:
Experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably in food manufacturing.
Strong understanding of logistics, inventory control, and supply chain processes.
Proficiency in SAP (SAP Business One preferred) or other ERP systems.
Excellent communication skills with ability to negotiate and deal with a range of suppliers.
Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Salary:
?? $70K–$80K + super (negotiable based on experience).
