On this occasion, we have a fantastic role with our great colleagues in the QLD Department of Primary Industries Chemical Residues testing/analysis team. In your new roles as Science Technician, you will be based at Coopers Plains in Southern Brisbane and join the current team until 30th June 2026 initially. From previous roles, we would be amazed if this opportunity did not extend onwards from there.

Being part of the Chemical Residue Laboratory team, you will provide scientific support to the Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity Business Group. In doing so, your duties will include:

Working independently but under direction to deliver analytical chemistry testing services
Applying chemical techniques to enable the rapid and accurate quantification of insecticide residues in environmental samples
Accurately performing scientific tasks in accordance with existing standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instruction (WIs), protocols or methodologies to support the generation of valid data and ongoing compliance with the requirements of NATA accreditation, workplace health and safety requirements and legislative obligations
Participating in a multidisciplinary team and providing assistance to other areas of the laboratory at the request of the Laboratory Manager and Principal Scientist.
As relevant, tasks undertaken independently may include the following:

Maintain, undertake, check and arrange for calibration of laboratory equipment according to the equipment quality maintenance schedule.
preparing reagents
monitoring and managing the supply of consumable resources
cleaning work areas, equipment and materials
preparing, collecting and managing samples
ensuring sample integrity via appropriate sample preservation, handling and transport
performing tests and conducting analyses
measuring and collecting analytical data
recording and documenting data using defined systems and methods
other moderately complex scientific technical activities as directed

Experience operating within a Laboratory Quality Management System

As they continue to strengthen their international operations, they are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Export Documentation Officer to support their export logistics function.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and manage sales and purchase contracts for export customers and suppliers.
Prepare and issue shipping instructions, including draft and original Bills of Lading.
Lodge export-related applications and documentation such as:

RFP (Request for Permit)
EDN (Export Declaration Number)
PRA (Pre-Receival Advice)

Coordinate and compile all required export documentation, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, health certificates, certificates of origin, and government documentation.
Ensure all documentation complies with DAFF, customs, and international regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate filing and record-keeping for all export shipments.

Logistics Coordination

Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, cold stores, transport providers, and internal teams to ensure smooth export movements.
Assist with tracking shipments and resolving any discrepancies or documentation issues.
Communicate timelines, changes, and requirements to relevant stakeholders.
General Office & Administrative Support
Provide administrative and clerical support to the export and operations teams.
Assist with data entry, reporting, and updating internal systems.
Undertake general office duties as required to support the smooth running of daily operations.

Skills & Experience
Essential

Previous experience in export documentation, logistics, or supply chain administration (protein export experience highly regarded).
Strong understanding of Australian export processes and documentation requirements.
High attention to detail with strong organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general administrative systems.

Desirable

Experience within the meat, protein, or FMCG export sector.

The primary responsibilities of this role will include:

Develop and review procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Local Government Legislation and Statutory requirements.
Establish and rationalize key supplier agreements, identify new opportunities and implement improved processes to drive efficiencies.
Continuously improve the organisation’s procurement processes.
Minimise total costs to the organisation and maximize value add outcomes
Provide leadership and expert advice for procurement and contract management processes, including the development and communication of robust guidelines, procedures, templates, and innovations.

Compile tenders and contracts documentation for high value / high risk projects.
Review Council's procurement spends, establish and implement procurement spend categories and identify opportunities to create value.
Develop, maintain and review Council’s contract management to ensure alignment with best practice service level standards for tendered operations.
Undertake a liaison with role with Council suppliers, particularly local businesses, to promote cost effective procurement opportunities.
Establish appropriate audit functions to continually review procurement activities to monitor and manager risk, legislative compliance and regularly report to Management.
Undertake a supervisory role of Council’s Contract Register ensuring all audit and statutory requirement are met.
Maintain a standard contract management framework and methodology and oversee deployment and implementation across the organisation.
Investigate, assess, and recommend methods for tracking/improving compliance with agreed procurement and contract management policies, procedures and frameworks.
Coordinate the maintenance of, and compliance with, approved supplier panels and annual supply arrangements.

To be successful in attaining this role, you will require:

Demonstrated experience in a senior procurement role preferably within the public sector.
A formal qualification in a related discipline would be highly regarded
A strong working knowledge of local buy, vendor panel and contract law in relation to procurement
Excellent experience in the preparation of contracts, tenders & evaluation processes.
In depth understanding of Local Government Act 2009 in relation to procurement and probity
Excellent reporting and analytical ability
Experience using applications such as Technology One
Excellent communication and engagement skills

The roles will be based across different areas of the Isaac Region and the council will provide fatugue accomodation during the contracts.

The purpose of these positions is to improve the rates of dog registration, by conducting approved inspection programs.

General duties will include:

Conducting approved inspection programs and monitoring as required to ensure compliance with state legislation, local laws, subordinate local laws, declarations and notices relating to domestic animal keeping, particularly domestic animal registration, licensing and approvals.
Conduct investigations into alleged breaches of relevant State Legislation and Local Laws.
Making applications for and executing Warrants and Orders to Enter issued by a Magistrate’s Court in relation to non-compliance for domestic animal keeping issues.
Issuing correspondence, directions, compliance notices and Penalty Infringement notices (supported by evidence) for breaches of relevant state legislation, local laws and subordinate local laws and ensuring effective follow through to final outcome.
Promoting quality customer service through education and awareness of relevant state legislation, local laws and subordinate local laws.
Processing applications for permits and licences and requests in accordance with adopted policies and procedures.
Actively influencing animal owners to achieve desired outcomes relating to responsible pet ownership.

Knowledge and Skills required:

Ability to safely capture and impound animals, handle animals and be able to work in environments that animals frequent.
Experience working with and handling a variety of animals.
Ability to formulate concise and accurate written reports and correspondence.
Experience in navigating and interpreting State legislation and local laws is desirable.
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

In this great part-time (3 days per week - days flexible) opportunity, you will join the award-winning Municipal Laws, Public Assets and Emergency Management team on an initial contract until the end of February 2026 however, extensions are highly likely in this position. A generous hourly pay rate of $62.15 plus Super indicates the importance of the role in the team.

In your new role, you will have 360 degree involvement in progressing emergency management processes, preparedness and response within Council. In doing so, your duties will cover:

Updating and maintaining the Municipal Emergency Management Plan (MEMP), providing support for sub-plans and associated documents, as directed by the Municipal Emergency Management Team Leader.
Assisting in the delivery of functional responsibilities including the administration of the Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee (MEMPC) and Municipal Fire Management Planning Committee (MFMPC).
Administrator for CrisisWorks and Altitude software.
Leading the preparation of Council’s Emergency Management reporting requirements, including the Vulnerable Persons Register and Vulnerable Facilities List in accordance with legislation.

With the support and guidance of the Emergency Management Team Leader, undertaking an emergency response role during an incident

Assisting in the maintenance and development of NWMR Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and ERC facility plans.
Supporting the development and delivery of Emergency Support Team training and exercising activities, both locally and regionally with partner Councils.

We are seeking a Senior Investigations Officer for Council's Construction Taskforce. This role will run for an initial 6 months from early January and will play a key role, assisting Council to build positive, ongoing relationships with local Developers/Builders in this fast-growing region. In building these relationships, the role will ensure that ongoing development does not pose a risk to the environment or the health of the community through advice, education and (as a last resort) enforcement. Duties will be widespread and fast-paced, including:

Identifying and assessing compliant and non-compliant development and building practices with reference to the Planning Act 2016, the Local Government Act 2009, the Environmental Protection Act 1994, the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011, the Logan Planning Scheme 2015, and Council’s local laws.
Application of technical knowledge on development and building legislation and practices to make decisions about inspection techniques, relevant offences, and suitable penalties.
Applying technical knowledge of the development journey and contemporary development practices in the field.
Undertaking on-site investigations, gather relevant evidence, facilitate resolution of issues, and initiate prompt enforcement outcomes, if required, in accordance with legislation.
Modelling exemplary compliance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation when attending active development and construction sites, traffic areas, bush land, drainage and waterway areas.
Provision of clear and consistent advice and direction, demonstrating transparency, integrity and sound judgement.

Highly developed written and oral communication skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships, negotiate and apply conflict resolution skills to influence outcomes at all levels.
Possession of a current 30215 General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) white card.
